Dear Chair Kersavage:
Lower East Side Preservation Initiative — LESPI — has reviewed the presentation materials for the referenced application. We find that, although the proposed building’s low scale and brick facade materials are appropriate, the facade’s overall design seems generic, lacking in the expressive yet contextual architecture that would be appropriate here. Additionally, the masonry detailing around the front facade windows should be further refined or rethought.
